Home Cat Euthanasia in West Sussex
For many cats, home is where they feel safest. Gentle Paws Farewell provides home cat euthanasia in West Sussex and Hampshire, offering a quiet, supportive visit led by an experienced vet. Your cat remains in familiar surroundings, with gentle guidance for you and your family when saying goodbye. Find out what a home visit includes, how to arrange an appointment and how aftercare choices work.

Why a home visit can suit cats
Cats often find travel and unfamiliar places unsettling. Staying at home can help them feel calmer and more secure, particularly if they become anxious when leaving the house or when meeting new people.
Familiar surroundings can reduce stress
At home, your cat can remain in a space that feels and smells familiar. Many families find this helps their cat settle more easily and allows everyone to focus on comfort and quiet reassurance.
A calmer experience for you too
Being at home can also make the experience feel more private and controlled, without the pressure of a waiting room or a busy clinic. It gives you the chance to stay close to your cat and take things at a pace that feels manageable.

What to expect from the home visit
Every visit is handled with care and sensitivity, with time for questions and clear explanations before anything happens. The aim is to keep the environment calm for your cat and supportive for you.
Time to settle and talk things through
When we arrive, we meet you and your cat, then talk through what to expect during the visit. If your cat is hiding, resting or prefers a quieter corner, we will work with that calmly and patiently, rather than trying to rush them.
A visit shaped around your cat and your family
Appointments are up to 1 hour 30 minutes long. Some families want a few quiet moments first, others would like steady guidance from the beginning. We adapt to what feels right in your home.
Urgent appointments
Urgent appointments are often available. If you feel your cat may need support soon, getting in touch early helps us plan an appropriate time and talk through next steps with you.
Optional pre euthanasia consultation
If you are unsure whether the time is right, you can book an optional pre euthanasia consultation. This is a 30 minute online or phone appointment where we discuss your cat’s situation, answer questions and help you understand what to consider. If a home visit feels appropriate, we can help arrange the appointment and explain what will happen.

Aftercare choices
Once you have said farewell, you decide what happens next. Some families prefer to keep their cat at home for home burial, while others choose cremation.
Cremation arrangements
If cremation is chosen, we carefully transport your cat to a crematorium. With private cremation, ashes returned are available where selected. With communal cremation, ashes are not returned. It is also fine if you would rather organise aftercare independently.
